Dear all
Two pieces of good news this month
Dept Ed has funded a project spear headed by Young Minds to promote collabarative working between schools, the voluntary sector and providers of CAMHS and it is being piloted in my home town -Middlesbrough. (a town better known for its cheap housing stock and grittier side to life)
You can find out more at
http://www.youngminds.org.uk/training_services/bond_voluntary_sector
At our last meeting in Feb we talked more about working with schools as we seek to explore how we improve access for young people with emotional distress and mentl health difficulties.
Secondly, I commend to all a paper recently published
White B, Viner RM. Improving communication with adolescents. Arch. Dis. Child. Ed. Pract. 2012;97 93-7
The paper was listed on the monthly Adolescent Newsletter distributed by Barbara Moore (b.g.moore@bham.ac.uk)
One final item to share-the Lancet are running a series on Suicide and have a paper on
Self harm and suicide in adolescents
K Hawton et al
published June 22
www.thelancet.com
Hannah and I will be in touch soon with details of our next meeting which will be preceded by a Teleconference
Hope spirits are not too dampened by the miserable weather
Best wishes to all
Jane
